And Randy Orton. The business in his blood. Third Generation Superstar, the man has every gift a man can be given. Raw, raw genetic talent. Randy Orton is the diamond, Randy Orton is the coal that will be sqeezed into the next diamond.

Correva l’anno 2003, il giorno 3 Febbraio, e dopo un attacco a Tommy Dreamer, l’Evolution si presentò con questo promo di Triple H al grande pubblico. La stable più importante degli ultimi anni, ispirata dai Four Horsemen, era nata ufficialmente. Triple H rimarcò spesso il concetto di “evoluzione” nel suo promo. Avevamo il miglior wrestler della storia, il 16 volte campione mondiale, il Nature Boy, una leggenda vivente con una classe infinita. il Triplo non poté fare a meno di sottolineare come lui fosse quello che Flair era stato, l’unico diamante della sua stirpe, il wrestler migliore della sua generazione. Dopo questa piccola digressione su sé stesso, Triple H passò a presentarci il futuro, i wrestler che lui aveva preso sotto di sé e che voleva rendere delle stelle: Dave Batista, potenza estrema, un uomo da portare in guerra perché efficace come un carro armato; Randy Orton, un wrestler con il wrestling nel sangue essendo un lottatore di terza generazione, la pietra da sgrezzare per poi divenire diamante. La parte che amo viene qui. Traduco letteralmente: “Vedete nella vita tutto accade per una ragione. Questo è il normale processo dell’evoluzione. Chi non è all’altezza, rimane indietro. Quindi se un giorno vi svegliate in un letto d’ospedale e vi chiedete cos’è successo, c’è solo una risposta: l’ Evolution vi ha lasciato indietro”.
Questo promo ha, a parte la bravura di Triple H nel consegnarlo, una grande importanza storica: da qui abbiamo avuto una stable dominante, una stable capace di possedere ad Armageddon 2003 tutte le cinture di RAW, roster al quale appartenevano e che dominarono in lungo e in largo. L’azzardo che fece il Triplo pagò benissimo: lui e Flair costruirono da lì due future stelle, criticabili o meno, ma due future stelle, da una base veramente nulla. E pensando a ciò che è successo a RAW ieri notte si può solo ben sperare.
